We loved wandering through the ruins of this well preserved castle. See for yourself what it was like to live in a medieval Irish castle & wander up to the top of the tower for epic views of the city.

Take a free guided tour of this castle and enjoy learning about the history while you marvel at the beautiful castle.
Desmond Castle Newcastlewest | Heritage Ireland
One of the best castle tours I've done. Drimnagh is being lovingly restored and is known as the only moated castle in Ireland. Film buffs may recognize it from “Ella Enchanted”, “The old Curiosity Shop” or the show “The Tudors”

Excellent castle to tour and enjoy a unique view. Open late Spring-Fall.

Explore this amazing castle in Newcastle West area: Kanturk Castle- One of the best preserved Irish castle ruins. We loved it, we had it all to ourselves for over 2 hours while we wandered the grounds.

Wonderful place to wander through the ruins. Those who prefer a peaceful sanctuary will love visiting here, it was so tranquil and quiet! Absolutely amazing peaceful location.

Great place to discover history, lots of signage and staff from the Office of Public Works on hand to answer questions.
Ennis Friary
If you love exploring secret passageways, weaving through tunnels, climbing spiral staircases and hunting for hidden rooms this amazing abbey is a must see!!
Muckross Abbey - An Old Irish Monastery & Modern Irish Graveyard
One of the most famous ruins in Ireland, once home to the Kings of Munster and home to unique Celtic art & medieval architecture. Must book a guided tour to explore the interiors & to see Cormac's Chapel.
