items This is a list of my all time favorite hotels all over Portugal. Every single one of them I will go back to, recommend to friends and time and again sing their praises.

By far my favorite hotel in the Alcobaça, Nazare area of Portugal. I have spent 4 weeks at this hotel at various times. The restaurant is absolutely incredible, best fermented bread I have ever had. The views of the Atlantic, the pool and rooms are perfect. The property is gorgeous with a hiking trail and fruit trees throughout and the small town it is in has another great restaurant called Jardim. They even have “villas” private buildings with kitchenettes. I recommend this more than anywhere!
Vale d'Azenha Hotel and Residences, Cela (near Nazaré)
If you are traveling near Braga, drive 20 minutes north of the city to Vila Verde area and find this world class luxury spa hotel. The hotel is a working vineyard as well, beautiful in any season. The restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten at in all of Portugal and that includes a few Michelin star restaurants. Do not miss this opportunity to stay here, you will be planning your next trip back!

My favorite smaller city in Portugal, full of history and so much to do. So, of course you should stay in a historic monastery from the 1200's. I highly recommend staying in the older part of the hotel-in a room from the actual 1200's. The hotel is also a gorgeous museum, stunning gardens and pool and a fantastic restaurant.
