Gems in the Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands
The Laurel Highlands in southwestern Pennsylvania includes Fayette, Somerset, and Westmoreland Counties. Located about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, the area is centered on Laurel Hill and Chestnut Ridge in the Allegheny Mountains. These mountains are the tallest in the state, with Mount Davis in Somerset County, Pennsylvania's highest point at 3,213 feet. The region features several homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, including his most famous, Fallingwater. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to the Laurel Highlands for camping, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, whitewater kayaking, trout fishing, wildlife watching, downhill and cross-country skiing, and golfing.
