Books Made Into Movies
More often than not book to movie adaptations don't work. The movies never quit live up to the original work. An exception to this, in my opinion was the 2015 adaptation of Andy Weir's The Martian, starring Matt Damon as a astronaut accidentally abandoned on Mars.

Andy Weir's ‘Hail Mary’ follows an astronaut as he attempts to save the Earth from impending disaster. The movie adaptation stars Ryan Gosling as astronaut Ryland Grace and will be released in theaters in spring 2026.
Project Hail Mary: A Novel
Andy Weir's - Artemis follows protagonist Jazz Bashara as she tries to saves her lunar colony. Jazz isn't a hero, she's actually a crook, but she's lived on Artemis since she was a little girl and considers it home. The book has been optioned for a film.
Artemis: A Novel
While I've seen all of the film/tv adaptations of Dune, I've never read the books. The entire Dune saga consists of 6 books written by Frank Herbert. The current iteration of films star Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya.

Most people might know Michael Crichton as the author/creator of Jurassic Park. He was a prolific writer in numerous genres. While I generally like his books, the endings can be tied up a little quickly for my liking.
The Andromeda Strain - by Michael Crichton (Paperback)
H.G. Wells classic story of Earth's invasion by a superior enemy. There have been numerous tv and film adaptions of the book. My favorite version is the 1953 film starring Gene Barry.
