These are actual planners to get you started. These are mostly paper planners. However, an iPad is included because you can also plan digitally. I have also included my favorite digital planner.
I have tried a Plum Paper planner. What I like about this planner is that you can customize the planner for your needs. You can choose a Monday start or a Sunday start. You can add US or Canadian holidays. You can also add different religious holidays such as Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Muslim. You can also add your own special dates. You can also choose which month the planner starts. So you can essentially start the planner any time. You can add so many things, such as a teacher section, business section, health section, etc. There are so many ways to customize this planner. This planner is good if you like to have a catch-all planner.
Plum Paper
I have used Happy Planner in the past. I like the vertical planner most because I can divide my planning into sections by time of day (morning, afternoon, evening). I used to like to use stickers to decorate the planner. But you don't have to use stickers if you are more of a functional planner.

When I digital plan, I use the GoodNotes app on my iPad. I download digital planners and stickers from Etsy and upload them to my GoodNotes app. You will also want to get an Apple Pencil.

These are accessories that go with planners. I feel these items bring value to planning, whether functionally or aesthetically.
If you are going to get an iPad, you want to make sure you also get an Apple Pencil. You can use it for your own handwriting, or you can change the settings for the handwriting to change to text. I use it with the GoodNotes app when I digital plan.

If you paper plan, white-out tape is a must. I don't like scratch-outs on my planner. In my opinion, white-out tape is neater than the liquid white-out. Also, you don't have to wait for it to dry.
