It was hard on me when I first started my leather journey because I didn’t even know where to start. I hope these lists of things that I use in my leather business will help you in your endeavors.

Hand tools
I know when I started my leather working journey I had a hard time finding what I needed. Here are my recommendations to get you started.
You can start with any swivel knife to see if you like working with leather . As you progress I would suggest one from Barry King.
Swivel Knife
These are the more expensive nice swivel knives if you are going to stick with it.
Barry King Swivel Knife
Inexpensive bevel stamps to try. You bevel the edge after you cut it with the swivel knife.
Beveler Stamp
These are the very nice beveled you will eventually want for your leatherwork.
Barry King Tools Beveler
These are used on the edges to fund the corner so that you don’t have such a harsh edge
Edge Beveler
These are more expensive but are very good edge bevelers by Barry King.
Barry King Beveller
You can find some nice geometric leather stamps on Etsy to try. I have purchased quite a few from here.
Leather Stamps
I use this for cutting straps off of the leather
Side. It uses a razor blade and cuts a straight edge. A must have for belts and straps.
Leather Strip Cutting Tool
Machines
A few of the machines that I use in the leather
Shop.
I have a large leather machine, but this one is my favorite for smaller projects like spur straps, belts, and smaller tack pieces. It will sew up to about 10 ounces of leather and is super
Easy to use. It would also be fine for purses.
Sailrite Leather Craft Sewing Machines for sale
This is the larger machine that I use. This one will sew through anything that you need for horse tack, belts, bridles, etc. I don’t like it as well on the thinner leather.
I bought this one instead of the more expensive ones you can buy and it works just fine for me. It saved me a couple of hundred dollars.
Leather Splitter
Sometimes I use a dremel to sand my edges down before finishing them. This works very good.
Dremel products for sale
Paints and dyes
This is what I like to use as a resist. This one goes over the paint and before the antique. I like this one because oil can penetrate it for horse tack.
Fiebing's Tan Kote 32oz - top finish for leather
This is the resist that I use if I really don’t want the antique to go through and darken the leather. It is a waterproof coat so this one will
Not let oil penetrate the leather.
Fiebing's Pro Resist
I like this antique but it does darken the leather some. If you don’t want it to darken the leather use the paste.
Tandy Leather Eco-Flo Briar Brown Gel Antique 8 Oz New 2607-07
This is the antique that I use if I dont want the leather to darken all over.
Fiebing's Sheridan Brown Antique Finish Paste 4oz for sale online
This is the brand of paint that I use for painting leather.!
Angelus Leather Paints & Finishes for sale
This is what I keep in the shop to wipe off the antique and just to keep all of the paints and dyes cleaned up.
Scott Shop Towels Original 55 sheets/roll, 12 rolls
If you don’t have a Sam’s card you can get shop towels from Amazon. I use these to wipe off the antique.
