This is one of my favorite places in the world. My #1 museum. I could spend a week in this place. It has such a calming effect on my soul. If you’re a Wayne County resident I believe it’s free.
Detroit Institute of Arts
One of my favorite memories as a kid was coming here and seeing the dinosaur exhibit, and space shuttle simulator. Always made sure to eat astronaut ice cream!
Cranbrook Institute of Science
Great place for hands on fun for the kids. Plenty of things to explore, climb, see and ride.
DNR Outdoor Adventure Center
Belle Isle is back! My grandpa used to take my brother and me here when I was a kid in the 80s. Plenty of sight seeing, swimming, giant slide, aquarium, bbq areas, and fountains. Great history and fun.
Belle Isle Park
Probably the cheapest pro sports ticket in town, but they may be changing soon now that they’re good again. If you haven’t been to Comerica, do yourself a favor and take the kids to a Saturday day game.
Official Detroit Tigers Website
Old school and new school arcade. Used to beg my parents to take me here all the time.
Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum
A must visit in our beautiful Michigan autumns. Best cider and donuts in the state. Huge play area for the kids in the Fall. Giant corn maze. Pumpkins, apples, corn.
Long Family Orchard, Farm & Cider Mill
Amazing outdoor have. About 20 miles west of the city. Swimming, biking, paddle boating , golf, disc golf, hiking and more.
Kensington Metropark
More suited to the younger crowd, but my 4
3 and 5 year old adore this place. There’s also a cafe and seating area for parents. Great place to get a coffee and read the Kindle while the littles play.
Dinoland – Family Entertainment Center
Great water park and splash pad. Probably more appreciated by younger kids. There is a lazy river for relaxing too
Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center | Michigan
Such a cool place to mingle with the community, buy some amazing goods and take in the sunshine.
Eastern Market
Fun place to take the kiddos to eat. They’ll love the jungle theme/scenery
Rainforest Cafe
Great educational and fun place to learn done Michigan and US history. Like taking a trip back in time. But a ticket to their Holiday Nights in December. Totally worth it
Greenfield Village
Another place I could spend hours at. Always has cool featured exhibits. The car collection is amazing. Even has a full on steam locomotive.
Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
The heart of the revival that’s going on in Detroit. Such a cool place to go and just hang out plenty to entertain the kids.
