Root Touch Up
I've used this Thermal Defense Mist for the last couple of years. I've found that when I use it, my curls actually hold for a longer period of time than when I don't use it. I have to diffuse my hair every time I wash it to have great Irish curls and when I don't, I use my heated L'Ange brush. So this Thermal Mist has really protected my hair from the heat. I haven't used other protectant products, but I can tell you this stuff works well.

Thermal Defense Mist

I always condition my hair really well after I wash it, though, because the salt dries it out if I don't. The hold is really good!

Sea Salt Spray
I started using the Treluxe system for my Irish curls a little over a year ago and have found that it actually DOES improve my curls and temper down the frizz.
After washing and conditioning my hair, I use just ONE SQUIRT of this Cleansing Rinse on my mid-back length hair. I spread it thoroughly on my hair and then rinse it out completely with cool water. My hairdresser explained that using cool water on the final rinse of one's hair causes the hair to contrict thus preventing frizz and breakage. Maybe I remember incorrectly. Feel free to correct me in the comments. I repeat the process with only half a squirt if necessary. I've found that if I use too much, my hair may appear oily between washes.
After this Curl Renew, I use the Styling Serum (purple).

This styling serum is awesome!
I use it in the shower directly after the (green) Curl Renew is rinsed out of my hair with cool water. The key is to have my hair soaking wet, my head tipped upside down with hair hanging in front of my face, separated into three sections. I use about a quarter of the serum on each section with praying hands and then use my Flexi Brush (from Lilla Rose in the Clips section above) to brush through my hair still while upside down. Once my hair is brushed and free of knots, I scrunch. I love the squishy scrunchy sound! If I don't hear it, I wet my hands and run them over my hair until I do. Once I've scrunched, I use my (purple) Lilla Rose towel before exiting the shower. There's one more step so follow me to the (brown) Styling Gel!

Styling Serum
Once I'm out of the shower and my hair is satisfactorily scrunched and wrapped in my (purple) Lilla Rose towel, I remove the towel and use about a nickel's size of the gel in my hands and emulsify it by rubbing my hands together. Then I gently rub praying hands over my hair which I separated into two sections. I have fine hair, so if you choose to use these products, you may have to experiment a bit to get the results you want. Then scrunch. If I don't hear a squishy sound, I use the Treluxe continuous spray bottle to wet my hair until I do. Once properly scrunched, I wrap my hair again until I'm ready to diffuse.
