72 Hours in Athens!
I recently went on a quick trip to Athens. I knew I couldn't see everything, so I focused my priorities on the ancient sites and had a great time. Here are my recs for 72 hours in Athens

An amazing museum, designed to give a stunning view of the Pantheon. Worth visiting before going up the Acropolis because most of what was the Pantheon is gone but explained, replicated, or displayed here.
The Acropolis is the center of Ancient Athens and can be seen from almost everywhere. You have to go up, right?! Amazing views from the top!
Pedestrain walkway between the Acropolis and the Museum - and MUCH more. Stroll up and down, people watch, listen to musicians, shop, etc. Dirt paths closer to the Acropolis with benches make nice places to slip out of the fray for a moment. Wander o...
I love these bus tours to get an overview of a new place in a short time. Since I only had 3 days in Athens, a couple of hours on the bus, enjoying the sunshine, let me see more than I would have otherwise
The changing of the guard is really cool! You can get a glimpse from the Hop on Hop Off bus - worth going back for.
Busy, cool starting place to watch people, get oriented and start wandering down nearby streets for souvenirs, food & drinks, and more!

Things to take & how to get around Athens
This is on some of my other lists. Athens is ALL up and down stone walkways. It's hard on the knees, feet, hips if you're over a certain age. This trekking pole fits in carry on and offers all the stability you want.

Since I wasn't traveling around the city I only used the metro to and from the airport, but it's a great system, super easy to use. The three day ticket was perfect - and included the airport trips

Amazing restaurant! One of the best salads I've ever had. Feta to die for. Great wine. Amazing service in a stunningly beautiful setting
Quick coffee and pastry, lunch, or dessert. Everything was wonderful! Definitely have the Kataifi!
Same name different (nearby) place. Also really good! Sit outside and enjoy life in the shadow of the Acropolis. Does life get any better?
LOVED this little hotel. Simply beautiful, clean, comfortable (AMAZING bathroom & shower!) and perfectly lovely staff
