This is one to listen to in the car with your family. Not only is it PG rated, but it helps you understand other people’s behavior (and your own.) You’ll start laughing and pointing at each other – in a good way.

This one is actually a true story . In June 1944, Hartford’s circus tent caught fire, and this book takes you under that big top: the screams, the smoke, the whole story written almost in novel form. It’s dark, fascinating, and redemptive. It’s a pie...

This is my favorite travel memoir ever. A young woman and her husband bicycle around the world in the 1970s. Her travelogue is so well written, it’s like a novel. Everyone I’ve recommended this to has absolutely loved it.
Miles from Nowhere: A Round the World Bicycle Adventure

Stories to Tell
“Hi, my name is Matthew… My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead.” I read this a year before he died, and just wanted to hug him.
Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir
Imagine you’re a 14-yr old babysitter for a therapist in the 1970s— and the therapist is treating a very famous rock star. This book was loaded with so much summer fun that I could practically see the outfits and hear the guitar chords.
