Here are my favorite state parks. State parks are generally the least expensive and most have the woodsy campground atmosphere.
This park has some of my favorite trails. Highly recommend Cypress Swamp trail, Hickory Trail the Hammock trails. There are also nice paved and off road biking areas.
Highlands Hammock State Park
If you love deer as much as I do, this is your place! You will have deer on your campsite daily! Turkeys too. Make sure to check out the observation tower for some great views!
Lake Kissimmee State Park
Gators, gators and more gators! They have a boat tour to see wildlife up close. This park has a newer section that has full hook ups so that is a plus for a state park!
Myakka River State Park
Nice park with lots of trees and shade. This was a go to park when our kids were younger. Nice playground area across from sites in the low 20's (22, 23…)
Oscar Scherer State Park
A must see park! You can choose to stay on the beach side or riverside. They both have their perks! Riverside nice and quiet, tucked back with nice large sites. Beach side is right on the Atlantic! You can hear the waves crashing at night. Sites them... and small but you are steps away from the ocean!
Gamble Rogers State Park
Another great park! Has great trails and a fun steel cable suspension bridge. Be careful of the time of year that you go. They are prone to flooding during rainy season.
Hillsborough River State Park
Great place for tubing down the river! This is the main attraction for this park. It's a nice float especially with a group of friends/family. Full hook ups! A bonus for a state park.
Rainbow Springs State Park
Great campground to visit! There is an amphitheatre near by that you can catch a show at or just listen from the campground. You must go in town to walk around the historical city of St Augustine.

This is a place to visit at least once! The campground itself is very nice and well maintained. The best part though is right next to the campground there is a drive through safari and small adventure park! This is an extra cost but well worth it! Th...
