The Polymer Clay Tools I Keep Coming Back To
This is a list of items that I use and recommend if you’re interested in getting started sculpting!
This stuff is awesome! It is so nice to work with and because it is over bake it doesn’t require any fancy equipment to get started!
Sculpey III
I prefer to paint my sculptures, but some people like using colored clay. This stuff is also great for creating jewelry, which is another common thing that is created with this clay! Let me know what you plan on creating.
Sculpey III 12 Pastel Colors
Imagine this wire as the bones or the skeleton of your sculpture. You’ve been this into the shape and apply clay over it that gives the clay. Some stability and structure will also making it more durable.
craft wire armature
You wrap this over the top of the skeleton you’ve created with your armature wire to build up some mass to your sculpture. That way you don’t have to use as much clay while adding size to your sculpture.
Aluminum Foil
Now you don’t need to get this kit, I have most of the tools in this kit, but I didn’t buy the specific kit, all my tools came from multiple different kits overtime. If you decide not to get this kit I recommend getting lots of little tools. They’re ...
Clay Tools Kit
I don’t own these, but I do love texture tools and this is a great kickstart kit. For my personal texture tools I make them out of oven baked clay or even just find random objects around my house that have interesting patterns on them that I can roll...
Hokkieam Clay Texture Rollers, 10 PCS Tool
This is a very important step if you’re trying to get a super clean and highly texture look. You dip a sponge brush in this and spread it across the entire surface of your finish sculpture before you bake it, this will smoothing out any tool marks as...
Isopropyl Alcohol
This one isn’t necessary, but I find it really useful. Sometimes your art piece cracks in the oven or while you’re handling it after you’ve baked it the first time. This stuff is like glue for oven bake clay. You just applied it on to the crack and r...
Liquid Sculpey
These are the sponges you want to use with your rubbing alcohol. They soak up a good amount of alcohol well also being delicate.
Sponge Brush
This one is also optional, but I find it adds that perfect little touch if you’re doing the eyes on an animal or creature you sculpt It also works fantastic for creating jewelry.
UV Resin
Now this isn’t oven bake clay but I thought it’s definitely worth mentioning. This stuff doesn’t dry, it’s fantastic to make an intricate sculpture because it has the ability to handle extremely high detailed work. You typically make a sculpture with...
Monster Clay Premium Grade Modeling Clay
Sometimes I like to use these as my armature, I like them because, if you decide to make a creature or a character of some kind, you can leave gaps in your clay for its joints making it able to articulate and move around. One of my favorite things I ...
Craft Pipe Cleaners
