I just discovered why typical “hourglass figure” styling tips don't work for me! It's because I am a figure 8! The figure 8 body type is generally considered a form of hourglass. While the hourglass has balanced proportions and a softer hip curve, the figure 8 has a slightly shorter (or shorter-appearing) torso and longer legs with a sharper and higher hip curve. This can be a tricky body type to style for a few reasons. Because figure 8's have a shorter torso, they often will look to short torso styling tips. These tip will often tell people with short torsos to wear low waisted jeans, which just doesn't work for the high, sharp hip bones of a figure 8. Additionally, hourglass body styling tips do not work because these tips usually include super high waisted jeans & body con dresses, which don't suit the hip curve either.
