Step 1: Cleanse!
The first step in smelling good is getting clean!

Step 2: Moisturize!
Your scents will last longer on hydrated, moisturized skin, apply lotions right after getting out of the shower while still a little damp
My main body moisturizer, the scent is fresh and soapy and clean, I start with about ten pumps and mix it with the other lotions

Sadly this Bath & Body Works scent is discontinued, so I just use a tiny pea sized amount of the body cream. The scent is a copy-cat of Diptyque’s L’eau Papier

I use mix in just a little bit of Vanilla Bean Noel with the rest of my lotions to add a little sweetness. This is a seasonal scent, so when it isn’t available I’ll use EOS Vanilla Cashmere instead.

When Vanilla Bean Noel is out of season I use Vanilla Cashmere instead. It’s a sweet and creamy vanilla, almost like a vanilla yogurt.

Step 3: Deodorant!
I’m a sweaty gal. I find that aluminum free is okay(ish) for bedtime but I need the strong stuff for leaving the house. These are my favorites for my scent routine.
I only trust an aluminum-free deodorant if it contains an AHA ingredient. I love this one from Salt & Stone in the Seascape scent. It’s fresh and aquatic and neutralizes the acid smell very efficiently.
5% AHA Serum Deodorant - Saltair
The only fancy deodorant that works. Make sure to get the antiperspirant version! This is a beautiful warm musk scent that blends beautifully with the rest of my routine.

Dove Original Clean is THAT GIRL! This is my every day antiperspirant, I save the Donna Karan for special occasions.

Accidentally bought this for my husband once and it wasn’t his favorite so I kept it in my purse. Now I repurchase it when I run out, it’s a great scent and I love having one on hand for sweaty girl emergencies.

Step 4: Base Layer!
Layering your fragrances will make them last longer and help you develop a one-of-a-kind “signature scent”
This is a non-negotiable step for me. You always hear about Nemat’s Amber and Vanilla Musk fragrances but White Musk is the backbone of my signature scent routine. Clean, inviting, magnetic. I feel nude without it.

This was a recent splurge for my birthday. My favorite scents are all Diptyque’s, L’eau Papier is a hard-to-pin-down clean skin scent with a “rice steam” note. I use one spritz on dry hair and maybe an extra spray on my collar if I’m feeling rich.

I found a travel size roll on of Glossier You at TJ Maxx and was an immediate convert. A dab behind the ears and on the back of the neck and knees is all you need to add a bit of je ne sais quoi to your scent. Layers well with everything.

I buy multiple bottles of the If You Musk body spray during Bath and Body Works sales. It’s much cheaper than rebuying Glossier You and it smells nearly identical. This gets sprayed all over after moisturizing.

Orpheon. My love. I consider this parfum my signature scent, because it is the one I wear every day, though I usually layer it with something else. This is the element of my routine that I think smells the most “me”.
