October is Black History Month in Europe, so I wanted to share a watchlist of films and series that you should watch (again) this month. Quick confession first. I haven't seen all of these yet. I picked them because the stories matter. Personally I feel that Black history is not really a category on its own, it is history. It belongs on the same shelf as everything else, all year, not just in Black History Month. But the playing field still isn't level, and a lot of these were made by Black directors who had to work harder just to get made and noticed. So the extra spotlight is absolutely valuable and needed. My 7-year-old does not do plain. If she had her way, she would wear a bridesmaid dress to school every single day, and I've mostly stopped fighting it.
