Oily, acne prone, textured skin in your 30s?? Here’s a curated list of tried and trues after a few decades dealing with this crap ;)
The BEST mattifying sunscreen in my opinion. Sadly no US sunscreen really holds a candle to this. VERY important to only get the UK version–the US version isn’t great. Awesome for beach or pool days where you won’t be wearing anything else.
Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF50+ Sunscreen 50ml
My every day sunscreen. Not explicitly mattifying, but far from greasy and plays really well with makeup. I like to mix with MISSHA Perfect Cover BB cream. Look for it in Korean skincare stores since you can no longer get easily online. I like Palace...
This isn't marketed toward oily gals, but it's one of the only tinted sunscreens that doesn't settle into my pores and leave them looking yuck. For every day, I like to mix a few pumps into my regular sunscreen since it can be quite full coverage. Pa...
MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23 Natural Beige
The OG–this was my very first foundation I got for PROM in 2006, and there’s really nothing better. I also wore on my wedding day in 2025! Day to day I’m ok with blotting, but if you need something bullet proof, this baby is it.
Double Wear Stay-in-Place Longwear Matte Foundation
This is my favorite cheaper foundation that still lasts. It leans a little warm even with the cooler shades, but it keeps my skin matte and is easy to work with.
Maybelline Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation
My current fav setting powder. Great for under eyes! Oily gals need talc. Don’t be afraid of it. I’ll just use this on regular days but if I need more longevity, I’ll layer on a mattifying powder too.
RCMA Makeup Original No Color Loose Powder
My current favorite mattifying powder! I’ve had bad luck with past favs getting discontinued but hopefully this one lasts. It doesn’t leave my face cakey but definitely keeps oil at bay.
Revlon ColorStay Blot Face Setting Powder
15 years going strong with this setting spray. Since I use a lot of mattifying products and powders, I like to add a little moisture back in to make it look like my skin.
HERITAGE STORE Rosewater & Glycerin Mist
The bougie setting spray for special occasions. I used this for my wedding! It’s magical.
Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray Bridal
My go-to touch up tool for removing shine throughout the day. I generally need two or three, but they work great and don’t remove makeup.
Small enough to keep in your purse to really cut down on shine. I keep a small travel brush instead of using the included puff.
I'M MEME Compact Oil Cut Pact - Sebum Absorbing
Shade: Painterly. This is the TOP TIER eyeshadow primer or just a nice neutral base shade. My eyelids are oily and I usually always have a crease within an hour–but not with this !
Pro Longwear Paint Pot – Cream Eye Shadow
Shade: Ash Brown. I love how this is a true neutral brown without a hint of red or orange. It also STAYS, so I don’t end up with half an eyebrow in the middle of the day.
Brow Definer
Shade: Cherry Cola. I like a water stain for my cheeks and lips because I feel like it has staying powder when my skin gets oily.
e.l.f. Sheer For It Blush Tint Lip & Cheek
Shade: Latte. Love this for eyes/lips/cheeks! The staying power of this whole brand is perfection.
