Best AI Video Generators (2026): Free Tiers and Paid Picks

Movie Camera emoji 10 items
The best AI video generator depends on the shot, so I've grouped this list by job instead of crowning one winner. I use Higgsfield heavily and I've tried every tool here myself; this is what I'd send a friend who asks which one to pay for. Most of th...

Every free AI video generator is a trial. Higgsfield has no free plan: you get free allowances on some models and a free Effects tier, and plans start at $19 a month.

Disclosure: the Higgsfield links here are affiliate links, and the Kling card has my referral code. If you subscribe through one, I earn a commission (Higgsfield) or bonus credits (Kling). New Higgsfield accounts get up to 50% off for three hours aft...

Best AI video generator if you switch models

I ended up using two or three models once I learned what each one handles well, and paying for each model's own subscription adds up fast. A multi-model subscription makes sense from the second model onward.

My main tool. Set camera, motion and style for each shot, then pick the model: Kling, Seedance, Wan, MiniMax and Veo all draw from one credit balance. Much cheaper than keeping separate subscriptions.

Pick a model by shot

Every model here runs from the same Higgsfield account, so trying a second model on a shot that didn't work costs only credits. These are the usual first picks; your own material will decide the rest.

My first pick for motion with weight: bodies, vehicles, things that fall. Plus and Ultra come with seven days of unlimited Kling 3.0, so use that week to throw your hardest shots at it.

The one most people sign up for. Watch the plan gate: the pricing page lists Seedance 2.5 on Plus, and Starter's numbers are in Seedance 2.0 Fast videos. If 2.5 is the reason you're here, skip Starter.

Seedance 2.0 Fast is what Starter's credits are counted in: the pricing page puts $19 at about 15 videos. Fine for trying Seedance out. For regular use, Plus is counted in Seedance 2.5 instead, at about 80 a month.

Wan 3.0 sits in the same seven-day unlimited window as Kling 3.0 on Plus and Ultra. Run both on the same prompts that week and keep whichever fits your style.

Free AI video generator: where free stops

Free text to video AI exists everywhere as a trial and nowhere as a workflow. Higgsfield gives free allowances on some models and a free Effects tier, but no free plan, and video uses credits much faster than images. Starting from an image instead of...

Starter is $19 a month for 270 credits. Plus is $59, or $47 yearly, for 1,200 credits and seven days of unlimited Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0 and Nano Banana 2. Ultra is $129, or $99 yearly. Log in via the referral link first: up to 50% off for three hours.

Start from a still instead of a text prompt: portraits with lip-sync, product spins and real camera control. You begin from a frame you already like, so fewer credits go on misses.

Going direct instead

If one model covers everything you make, its maker's own subscription can be the simpler choice. Compare it against Higgsfield Plus before you pay for either.

Kling's own app, simpler if Kling is the only model you'd ever use. This link applies my referral code (7BYHD3RQ5N73): 10% bonus credits in month one on your first individual plan, up to 1,500. Trials don't count.

Google's filmmaking tool, built around Veo. Since Veo 3.1 is also inside Higgsfield, I'd only go here if Google's model is all you want.

Seedance straight from the source: Dreamina by CapCut runs Seedance 2.5 and 2.0. Worth it if Seedance is all you use; otherwise the same model sits inside Higgsfield next to Kling.
