Middle Grade
Absolute masterpiece. Thrilling, plot, in-depth characters, and openly discusses poverty through a child’s eyes. The commentary on war and class is phenomenal, especially for a children’s book. Heartwrenching and beloved series.
Gregor the Overlander (Underland Chronicles Series #1)
Moving, Captivating, and heartbreaking. One of my favorite books of all time. Great representation of sensory processing disorder and untraditional families.
Tune It Out: 9781534457003: Sumner, Jamie: Books
Spooky and inclusive graphic novel. Discusses otherness and magic as connection. Canon trans character and trans coded main character.
Snapdragon: Leyh, Kat: 9781250171115

Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World (…
A classic. My favorite from middle school, still holds up. Queer coding out the wazoo. Found family blueprint.
The Outsiders: 9780142407332: S. E. Hinton: Books
Adored this graphic novel. Covers grief and tense family systems/parentification. Cute ghosts that help tell the story.
