Transport your tastebuds to Japan right here in Sydney. As a local, here are my favourite authentic and fusion restaurants in the CBD and beyond.
Map
I recommend the Aburi salmon roll, nigiri platter, cold soba noodles and fish katsu.
Tatsuya Sushi Bar, West Ryde
I recommend the aburi and raw fish nigiri, fresh sashimi and wagyu beef enoki rolls. There are so many scallop combinations here! My favourite!
Fugetsu Market City (@fugetsumarketcity) · Sydney, NSW
Delicious specialty rolls.
Mikazuki Parramatta
Good value and huge serving sizes. There's less rice and more sashimi on the nigiri. Plus there are good specialty rolls.
Moeru Japanese Restaurant (@moeru_sushi) · West Ryde, NSW
Premium casual dining with Modern Japanese food. Get the mochi cheesecake, the oysters with ginger, burrata, the crunchy eggplant, the tantan tsukemen noodles and the Wagyu sushi foie Gras.
Ichoume
Good for trying new seafood as they have a unique variety such as pufferfish!
Edomae sushi – Sydney Japanese Restaurant
Japanese Italian fusion.
Bistro Nido
Japanese Peruvian fusion. I recommend the scallop tiradito, beef tartare, ox tongue skewers, king prawns, and rib eye.
Callao Barangaroo
I recommend the Grilled miso eggplant, hojicha smoked duck, mixed sashimi carpaccio, organic seared beef chashu ramen, spicy okonomiyaki, green tea creme brulee and yuzu sorbet.
UCHILOUNGE / O'Uchi
I recommend the omakase set, fresh uni sea urchin, scallop tiradito sashimi, aburi salmon volcano, green tea ice cream, and black sesame ice cream.
