If I was just starting out with hiking, here's what I would buy before hitting the trails! Starting with this basic gear will set you up for success on most day hikes. My boyfriend and I LOVE taking vacations to national parks (we often need a break from city life) - our favorite ever hiking spot is Glacier National Park in Montana.
