These are the BEST places to go when you visit New Orleans! Little local hidden gems
Map
I have been on this tour a bunch of times and every single time I go it’s a blast! All the guides are awesome. Best time to go on the tour is late April early May, but around Mardi Gras will also due (if it’s sunny, the gators will be out)
Cajun Encounters Tour Company
Amazing Tiki Bar across lake pontchartrain in Slidell but 100% worth it, best cajun fish sandwhich and drinks you’ll ever have. Plus an amazing atmosphere.
GilliGil's Island
This is in City Park, if you go to NOLA and skip city park you’re missing out. It’s the most gorgeous place with a ton to do. Go on a pretty day!
New Orleans Botanical Garden
Cafe Du Monde downtown is fun, BUT the one in city park is just superior to me. It’s 10x’s less crowded and has such a fun old timey atmosphere. There’s a saxophone player out front where you can sit and view the park to eat. This is my #1 recommenda...
Cafe Du Monde City Park
I’m gonna put this one on here because of course it’s awesome and historic. It also has that old timey feel to it and the food is, of course, just as delicious but it’s VERY fast paced (watch your pockets lol) and the one in City Park is just more ca...
Café Du Monde
This is just a fun, beautiful walk down the river bank. Again watch your pockets (pretty much everywhere) but it’s gorgeous to sit and watch the boats go by.
River Walk
Evangeline has some on the beat Cajun food/Creole dishes ever! It has outside seating and great cocktails.
Evangeline
Cool vintage store with a fun vibe. Cute photos could be taken here and they have some pretty cool clothing.
Swamp Rags Vintage
If you’re a history junkie or just like cool shit this is for you!
National World War II Museum
Less touristy, popular with the locals.
Frenchmen Street
Cool little behind the scenes of Mardi Gras, super cool if you’re not in town from late Jan- early March and you miss the real Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras World
Book a dinner sunset cruise, 100000% worth it.
Steamboat Natchez
If you like the outdoors and hiking this is for you. It’s fun and there’s a lot to see
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve
Insanely bomb food and very picturesque. Shrimp and grits are delicious and so is the chocolate cake!
Muriel's Jackson Square
This is a museum about the red light district in Storyville (iykyk)… call me crazy but it’s very interesting and you can learn about the jazz music as well
New Orleans Storyville Museum
Gorgeous architecture, i’m not very religious and it was still 100% worth visiting!
