What Worked!

These three items made all the difference! Literally using these three items in less than a week we got her to stop scratching the couch which we had been trying to get her to stop doing for months.

We lightly sprayed this on the couch corners that she loves to scratch every morning for a week. She would sniff at it and then decide not to scratch. The vet said this can be because she's scratching to mark her territory as much as anything else an...

This scratching post has made a huge difference! She loves to be able to stretch up on it and it's much better than the poor quality one we had before that she broke. Make sure to keep the scratching post not right next to the furniture she scratches...

Our cat goes nuts for these and at only 6 kcal a tube, they are mostly water. We gave her a tube after scratching her post the first couple times and then sporadically after for the first week. It really helped her learn to scratch the post more!

Similarly some people recommended tinfoil as a deterrent but my cat also likes to play with tinfoil, so this did not work.

So to be honest, my cat loves this cat tree! It “technically” has areas to scratch but she never uses those parts so it definitely wasn't helpful in this journey.
