I've been in Seattle under a year and these are my thoughts on various neighborhoods. Do you agree? What other areas should I explore?
Views are beautiful, parks are super cute. But it is sooooo hilly, it is not walkable which is a bummer.
Queen Anne
I love Magnolia, discovery park and a super cute downtown! But it is so separated from the rest of Seattle, you feel like you are in another city. It is really far.
Magnolia
Family friendly, a huge park with tons of space to walk/play, close to the light rail - what's not to love? One of my favorite parts of Seattle.
Ravenna
The lake, the lake, the lake! What's not to love. Walking around the lake with friends is the perfect activity basically year round. When I first moved to Seattle I wanted to live here but it's can be a bit local tourist heavy in a way so now I'd rat...
Green Lake
Super cute street at the top of the ridge with bakeries and breweries. Living here is a lot though since basically you'll be walking uphill both ways!
Phinney Ridge
Is it part of Greenlake? Is it part of Wallingford? Is it it's own thing? Is it not even a real neighborhood? I don't care I love it. Super cute houses, so walkable to Greenlake, Tangletown, and Wallingford. My dream part of Seattle to settle down.
Meridian
I'm not even sure where Roosevelt starts and ends. It kind of blends into the areas around it, but there are some great food spots, like Taste of India and Timeless Tea.
Roosevelt
The party central of Seattle. Tons to do, great food, lots of young people hanging out.
Capitol Hill
The ultimate tourist spot in Seattle, but honestly I like it. It's fun to come down and sit by the water and get food. Just don't mind the crowds!
Pike Place
1
Really cute! Some great events and festivals. Super fun place to hangout/live.
Fremont
Feels kind of separate from the rest of the city even though geographically it is right there. I think public transit to get there is much more limited compared to other places. The farmers market is great though!
Ballard
Very residential feeling for being in the middle of the city. It has a single block downtown that has some easy eats. Don't travel to eat there but if you are already there it's convienent.
Maple Leaf
I haven't spent enough time here but the downtown seems super cute! They have a vintage car show.
Greenwood
While it is technically in Seattle, it should really be considered it's own place. Definitely need a car to get here from the rest of the city. Alki beach is nice but feels a bit touristy, I like golden gardens beach in Ballard more.
West Seattle
Again not sure if this is a real neighborhood or just something google map says. But it's nice! Great bars, good water views.
Eastlake
Only one thing to say if you live here: tell me you work at Amazon without telling me you work at Amazon. Some great food though. Plus live on a top floor of some of the apartment buildings and get an incredible view.
