My top red wine recommendations that are worth opening only on special occasions, because they may break the bank
Top of the top Cab Sav. Truly luxurious. A very hearty wine, great with steak, braised beef, any heavy red meat dishes.
Vaca Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A very very special wine to be opened on an anniversary, or other milestone in life. Expensive, but worth it at least once.
Cabernet Sauvignon - Caymus Special Selection Napa
My favourite French wine 🍷 like red-fruit jam
Domaine Boris Champy Aux Coucherias Beaune 1er Cru 2019
A deliiiiiiicious Italian wine. Jammy but not too sweet, like any GREAT Amarone. Strong but smooth, with notes of plum.
Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
The best Pinot Noir you’ll ever drink. Worthy of a special occasion
Annahala Ranch Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
The original Caymus imo. The founder’s favourite wine, and FOR A REASON. I love Zin, and this is my favourite splurge. Not as expensive as a Cab Sav.
Caymus Zinfandel
Another GREAT Zin option, and ever so slightly less expensive. Grgich does all wines exceptionally.
Grgich Hills Estate - Zinfandel
Balkan King of wines, and this is his best varietal
Grgich Hills Estate Wines - Cabernet Sauvignon
A little change from USA wines, a FANTASTIC Australian option 🙌🏻 wonderful for the holidays, and pairs incredibly with gingerbread cookies
Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth
Less expensive than the special edition, but absolutely still pricey. Whenever I’m celebrating anything I want to bust open a bottle of this. Jammy, fruity, oaky, smooth but not too sweet. Amazing with a steak.
Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
You can typically find some great aged bottles of this. Very complex taste, almost like a warm fruit pastry in wine form. Delicious
La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2019
This wine is so good it made me get on a plane and go to Napa, California. I’m not even kidding.
