My dresser was nearly black walnut stain. Most paints took four coats and still looked streaky. These covered in two coats max, and I almost cried with relief.

Everyone said I had to sand the whole dresser down. Turns out a good deglosser and the right primer cut my prep time from a full day to about 45 minutes.

I ruined my first coat with a cheap foam roller that left tiny bubbles everywhere. The right applicator made the difference between looking DIY and looking like I hired someone.

Spent all that time painting and then my kid put a wet glass on the dresser top. Without a good sealer, chalk paint scratches and stains within the first week. Don't skip this step.

New paint on old hardware looks weird, like putting a fresh coat on a car but keeping rusty bumpers. Swapping the pulls and adding a few details took my dresser from painted furniture to actual farmhouse piece.
