I went through three different name tag brands before finding ones that stayed on silk blouses and flannel shirts without leaving residue. Nothing kills the vibe like a name tag sliding off into someone's drink.

The first party I tried this at, I used cheap felt tips and everyone's name bled through onto their shirts. Learned that lesson the expensive way when my sister sent me a dry cleaning bill.

Just putting out name tags isn't enough. I learned that people walk right past them unless there's a sign telling them what to do and making it feel fun instead of mandatory.

A pile of stickers and markers on a bare table screams ‘afterthought.’ I spent maybe fifteen extra minutes on presentation and suddenly the name tag station became a conversation starter all on its own.

Getting people to write their names is step one. Getting them to keep the tags on all night required a few extras that made the whole thing feel playful instead of forced.
