I bought three cheap raincoats before these and every single one slid off within two minutes. My dog looked at me like I was personally insulting her. These actually fit and she stopped fighting me about wearing them.

My dog used to do the sad paw-lift dance on cold wet sidewalks and then refuse to take another step. Getting her into boots was a whole production at first, but now she just stands there and lets me put them on.

Bribery works. I'm not above it. The trick was finding treats so irresistible that my dog would forget she was mad about the weather and just follow her nose out the door.

Turns out my dog wasn't just being dramatic — thunder and wind genuinely stressed her out. Once I addressed the anxiety piece, she was way more willing to go out even when weather was rough.

Rainy days mean dark skies and drivers who can barely see the road, let alone a brown dog on a brown sidewalk. After a car came way too close one evening, I made sure we were both lit up like Christmas trees.

After finally surviving a rainy walk, the last thing I wanted was a soaking wet dog shaking water all over my walls. These made the post-walk dry-off way faster and less chaotic.

Some days the weather was so bad that even I didn't want to go outside. Having a backup option near the door meant my dog could still go without both of us suffering through a full walk.
