The absolute basics!
you don't need a lot to start getting into art and it doesn't have to break the bank either!
no need for eraser dust and harsh erasure! kneaded erasers are a must for sketching to carve out highlights and redo portions
Kneaded Eraser
1
durable paper and small enough to carry around but still big enough to do art!
Moleskine Sketchbook
these sets include variety of pencil hardnesses that can help you learn value when you're first learning to draw
Sketch Pencil Set
unless colored pencils are going to be your focus, you don't need a huge pack! it's good to have a few to add some color to sketches or basic rendering :)
Colored Pencils
great for matte color/imitating a gouache look
POSCA Water-Based Paint Markers (16 Pack)
Painting
acrylic is imo the best paint to start out with! it's pretty self-explanatory to use :)
Acrylic Paint
don't buy the huge packs!! they're usually not great quality. buy a pack of 3-5 that's better quality because it makes a difference
Paintbrushes
again, don't buy a huge pack unless you're SURE you're committing to this. they'll just take up space! start with 1-5
Canvas
an alternative to canvases is painting paper! it's what i practiced with when i first started painting
