Newport Beach beaches have time windows for dogs — leash rules, usually before 9am or after 4:30pm. Worth knowing before you show up and get turned away. These three spots have been worth the early alarm for Arie and me more times than I can count.
The Balboa Village area near the Fun Zone is classic coastal OC that never gets old. Dogs can walk through the whole area, there's usually food nearby, and the waterfront views are great. Perfect loop to end a morning of Balboa Island wandering.

All leash-required, which is completely fine. The Back Bay is the crown jewel — flat, paved, incredible bird life, and Arie is convinced every egret is a personal threat. Castaways is the insider pick for locals who want the view without the mileage.
The difference between dogs allowed and dogs actually welcomed is real, and these four places pass the test. My benchmark is a water bowl within five minutes of sitting down. They all clear it easily.
