I used to think decanters were just fancy vases for people who watch too much HGTV. Then I poured the same $9 Malbec into one and let it sit for 20 minutes. My wife asked if I'd opened something new. Nope, just science.

Sometimes you walk in the door at 7pm and you want wine now, not in half an hour. Aerators do in seconds what a decanter does in 20 minutes. Not quite as smooth, but close enough for a Tuesday.

I drank out of whatever glass was clean for years. Then someone handed me the same wine in a proper glass and I felt like I'd been eating soup with a fork my whole life. The shape of the glass genuinely changes the flavor.

Nothing hurts more than pouring a glass, forgetting the bottle, and coming back to vinegar the next day. I wasted so much wine before I figured out that a $15 tool could save me from myself.

Little things matter more than I expected. A drip ring here, a proper corkscrew there. I used to think this stuff was unnecessary until I stained my third white shirt pouring without a collar.

My apartment doesn't have a wine cellar. It barely has a closet. But storing wine on top of the fridge or in a sunny window was slowly cooking every bottle I bought. These fixed that without requiring a renovation.
