Fall Gardening - Think Ahead for Spring

Purple Star emoji 21 items
Bad news guys - its time to think about wrapping up the garden for winter. It's not all bad though - here are some fall-planted bulbs for early blooms, as well as the tools I recommend for cleanup.  You don't need a lot but it's easy to get swayed at the hardware store. If you’re just starting here’s what I recommend!

I arranged this cage over my bush clematis but also used it for emergency support for a dahlia that fell over this year.  I have this in the 36" and 24" sizes.  They are sturdy (although I bring them in during winter) and are so unique!

Peonies are a labor of love. Specific heights for burying the root, short bloom periods, and they can take a few years to bloom at all.  But my my they are gorgeous once they get going.  These are some of my favorite spring blooms and this mix is gorgeous in a cluster.

I have really heavy amended soil on top of clay - so digging holes for bulbs can be a nightmare and I'll take any help I can get. This works perfectly!

Did you plant dahlias this year and you're above zone 7? Unfortunately you gotta dig them up and store them if you want them next year.  Peat moss in any container - crate, basket, etc, will do the trick to keep them from rotting
