These movies are true gems when growing up, without a big moralistic viewpoint, newer movies have often but deliver viewpoints on life and are good fun at the same time.

It is such a fun and creative movie for all ages. Fantastic Adventure and family movie. Boys and girls love it alike
The Goonies (1985)
Wonderful coming of age movie with a lot of stars in their first role.
Stand by Me (1986)
Teaches a lot: how to tackle bullying, how repetition goes a long way to brain memory, how to behave towards elders and it is a great movie time. Watch the original nothing else
The Karate Kid (1984)
So much happening here. Weird Science, time travel, cool characters and the speed of the story is excellent. Your kids will adore it.
Back to the Future (1985)
A classic for a fun movie night for younger kids even under 9.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989)
The storytelling, the beats and the acting are excellent. One of the best movies of all time in the adventure genre. For a bit older kids 12+
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Jumanji in Space. Underrated and great to get kids into the space topic.
Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005)
This is perfect for a bit older kids (over 12). The story is full of tech history. The kids will love the characters. Great movie to talk about it later.
WarGames (1983)
This often forgotten gem is one of Ethan hawk first movies. Funny, full off wonder and suspense and science. I absolutely loved it when I was 11.
Explorers (1985)
Don’t forget this epic movie. Your kids will remember some scenes for years. You will need the right mood for it. Don’t go in silly. Best watched with a mixed group of kids after a long wild day outdoor.
The NeverEnding Story (1984)
Start with IV. It is the original one. 12 is the right age for this great hero flick.
