Tops
Basic tees, vests, blazers, and cardigans are staples in my closet. I buy a LOT more tops than bottoms because you can make a lot of outfits by simply switching up the top.
A cotton t-shirt in lots of colors is an excellent base piece. Easy to dress up or down. Also the long sleeved ones are great for fall and winter.

Much like a basic tee, a tank top can be dressed up or down. Easy to grab especially in summer! Play with fabrics like silk to elevate the look.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a cardigan. Wear it the regular way or throw it over your shoulders for an elevated look. I love cable cardigans but also love a soft cashmere cardigan.

A blazer elevates ANY look. Throw it on with jean shorts and sneakers and you instantly look polished! Another one of my favorite clothing items. Play with colors too - pink, cobalt blue, kelly green…..

Invest in a few good bottom pieces. I think it makes sense to pay a little more for bottoms.
Skinny (I still wear skinny jeans!), wide leg, flare, barrel - every closet needs a few pairs of jeans. I love Gap jeans. So many fits and washes.
