I used to dread adding a belt hole because I'd always end up with a torn, uneven disaster. These rotary punches changed everything. One squeeze and you get a perfect circle, no wiggling or cursing required.

When I started doing actual leatherwork, rotary pliers weren't cutting it for thicker hides. Drive punches with a mallet give you way more control and cleaner results on heavy material.

Learned this the hard way. I punched straight through a belt and into my kitchen table. My wife still brings it up. A proper cutting surface saves your furniture and actually helps you get cleaner holes.

A clean punch is only half the battle. Raw edges look sloppy and can crack over time. These finishing tools are what took my belt holes from “I did this in my garage” to “wait, this wasn't factory-made?”

Punching holes weakens the leather slightly, so conditioning matters more than ever. I had two belts crack right at the new holes because I didn't condition them afterward. Don't repeat my mistake.
