From Chattahoochee River trails to tucked-away parks, these are my go-tos for getting outside without going far.

Oakhurst Park

A chef favorite and one of the city’s most vibrant markets, this Saturday spot is known for its seasonal produce, sustainably raised meats, artisan breads, cheeses and flowers.

Freedom Farmers Market

One of Georgia’s prettiest spots for a quick escape. Hike along the creek to the old mill ruins and take in the waterfall views — especially stunning in fall.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Hidden gem near the river with forest views and just the right amount of challenge. Ideal for slow mornings or a quick solo hike to clear your head.

Gold Branch Trail

Chill spot in the middle of the city with plenty of space to read, picnic or catch golden hour. Always feels a little less crowded than Piedmont.

Central Park

The heart of Atlanta — skyline views, trails, pups everywhere. Go early for a coffee walk or stay for sunset.

Piedmont Park

Always a fun day, no matter your age. And the kid-friendly playground near the entrance is a total win for little ones who need to run off extra energy.

Zoo Atlanta

Favorite neighborhood spots and date-night gems that make the city taste a little better.

Still one of the best slices in Atlanta. I always take guests here when they’re in town, and on rainy nights we love grabbing pickup. Freaking delicious every time.

Antico Pizza Napoletana

The coolest spot in town. You never know who you’ll see here, and the vibe stays perfectly lowkey. Food, drinks and service are all A+.

Argosy

My favorite Thai spot in Atlanta. The massaman chicken curry and crab rangoon are unreal. I usually grab takeout, but the bar’s perfect for a quick drink while you wait.

Surin of Thailand

Ooh, this one’s such a cozy little neighborhood spot. Perfect for a lowkey date night — the food and drinks are always great. I always get the chicken soup.

Mezcalito's Cantina

Chill little spot for solid, no-fuss Mexican — more Tex-Mex vibes. Drinks are strong, prices are great. It’s my go-to before or after a show at Variety Playhouse.

Elmyr

NEW. The kind of place Atlanta’s been missing — elevated food and drinks in a space that somehow stays chill. Went with friends the other night and it was perfect.

Madeira Park

A funky natural wine bar from the team behind Finco to Filter. Great pours, great people-watching and an easy choice for a spontaneous night out.

Side Saddle Wine Saloon & Bar

Right by the BeltLine and Piedmont Park. Perfect for a quick, casual meal. The hummus is so creamy and fresh, and everything tastes homemade. Great stop after a walk or picnic.

Mediterranean Grill

I wanted to hate this place because it’s so overly hyped — but it’s actually perfect. Buzzy energy, pasta that hits and delicious drinks. Date night or girls’ night, you can’t lose.

Yeppa & Co. - Beltline

Cool EAV spot that flips from dinner to DJ set on Fridays and Saturdays (11 p.m.–2:30 a.m.). Great food, strong drinks and always a little wild

Banshee

Easy to miss from the street, unforgettable once you’re in. Alon’s nails that European bakery feel — fresh bread, perfect pastries and a cozy market tucked inside.

Alon's Bakery & Market

A mother-daughter duo behind my favorite bagels in the city. They started in EAV and recently opened a second spot on the BeltLine. I dream about these bagels — and the egg cream? Weirdly amazing.

Emerald City Bagels

Perfect for cold, rainy days or late nights. Feels like a secret little hideout. Great beer list, solid food and cozy lighting that makes you want to stay awhile.

The Porter Beer Bar

Cozy French spot inside Hotel Clermont — amazing food, moody lighting and perfect for date night. Don’t skip a rooftop nightcap after.

Atlanta’s oldest theater and still the coolest. Catch an indie flick, grab a bevie and don’t skip the photo booth.

Plaza Theatre

Straight up my favorite place. If I ever go missing, my phone’s probably dead and I’m here at a show. No fuss, no frills — definitely don’t ask for an espresso martini. It’s a shot-and-a-beer kind of bar that hosts the best psych and underground show...

The EARL

One of my favorite venues in the city — intimate but still big enough to feel electric. The sound’s always good, the crowd’s chill, and bonus: Elmyr’s right next door for pre-show burritos and strong drinks. Perfect night every time.

Variety Playhouse

The Fox is like stepping into old Hollywood. The ceiling twinkles, the vibe’s ethereal, and Mighty Mo (its 1920s pipe organ) still kicks things off before certain shows. The fall ghost tours? 10/10, equal parts eerie and fun.

Fox Theatre Atlanta

A L5P classic with the perfect mix of nostalgia and new finds. Spacious, always stocked and often host in-store performances or exclusive signed vinyl releases.

Criminal Records

Another L5P landmark that’s been around forever. Stacks of vinyl and a deep catalog that rewards real digging. Pure Atlanta nostalgia.

Fernbank Museum

The High is always a good idea. Light-filled, beautiful and never too overcrowded (except on some special event nights). I love going for their rotating exhibits and the architecture alone is worth the trip.
