The Kindle

My Gen 3 Kindle Paperwhite still worked like new, but newer versions called to me. I chose the Gen 10 Paperwhite after comparing models and types, but what you'd choose depends on your needs and wants.

Essentially the first Kindle I owned, this one is the basic model with 6" screen, 16 GB storage (thousands of books), bluetooth, adjustable lighting and font size. It's long-lasting and is the least expensive version.

In addition to what the basic model has, the generation 10 model (my current one) has a larger 7" screen, an adjustable amber light (which I love!), & double the battery life.

This is the Cadillac of the Paperwhites with 32 GB of storage (you'll never, not ever, run out of book space), it's waterproof, and has wireless charging. It's the storage space and wireless charging you're paying for.

The Kindle Paperwhite for Kids is a step up from Kindle Kids with a larger 7" screen, longer lasting battery, warm light setting, and is waterproof, which could be a game-changer for kids.

If you enjoy books with color illustrations, then the Colorsoft might be for you. Because it's a fairly new addition to the lineup, you might check it out in a brick-and-mortar store where you can see it in person.

The Amazon Fire tablet was at first called the Kindle Fire tablet, but people were constantly being confused, thinking it was a really large e-reader, so Amazon changed its name. It's not an e-reader, though you can definitely read books on it. It's ...

Kindle Accessories

Some accessories are semi-necessary such as covers, others might be mandatory for your situation such as a charger. And then there are the simply nice-to-have accessories.

A long time ago, the Paperwhites had a page-turn button, and now a lot of people miss it. Sure, you can tap the side of the screen, but a lot of people prefer a button.

I don't currently own a speaker (for listening to books), but this one has decent reviews, so I'd likely give it a try.

A charger is necessary for most of us, be it of the wireless sort or this more basic type, which is what I use. That extra long cord is great when you're running out of charge and want to continue reading right where you are, but the wall socket is a...
