There’s just something about a good swimming hole - that first jump into cool, clear water after a sweaty hike or a long drive hits different. Australia’s full of them, from red rock gorges and hidden rainforest pools to those spots you stumble on by...
Surrounded by karri trees, this natural swimming pool is one for the books! 🌳
Pemberton Pool
This is hands down, my favourite swimming hole in all of Australia! Warm, ridiculously clear water with a natural lazy river you can float down. Don't forget to bring your floaties and snorkels and keep an eye out for the resident turtles 🐢
Bitter Springs

You can't beat an ocean pool and this one is often ranked as one of the prettiest! Located at the base of a cliff, you'll often see seals playing on the other of the pool. As with all ocean pools, bring your snorkel! I saw an octopus while doing laps...
Bermagui Blue Pool
A gold coin to enter, you'll find this swimming hole hidden behind Mason's Cafe. Try a croc burger at the cafe afterwards 🐊
Mason's Swimming Hole
This spot is a god-send in the outback heat! The best spot to cool off near Alice Springs with trees providing welcome shade 💦
Ellery Creek Big Hole
We love a croc-free swimming hole in the north - and this spots is dreamy! Crystal-clear water and perfectly round boulders provide nature's playground 🪨
Babinda Boulders
The brightest blue lake due to it being an old mine and slight acidity in the water. I highly recommending spending a night or two (or 5!) camping beside the lake. Swim at your own risk 🩵
Stockton Lake
Only appears once or twice a year after heavy rainfall or snow ❄️
Disappearing Tarn
A year round temperature of 37 degrees celsius, this is the perfect spot for a dip on the edge of the Simpson Desert! 🧡
Dalhousie Springs
This is by far my favourite ocean rock pool in Aus! It might not be super deep (unless they've since cleared some sand out of it) but it sooo pictureque with the surrounding cliffs! 😍
Aslings Beach Rock Pool
Such an epic set of rock holes to spend the day in! So many different pools to test out - just make sure you get there early because it gets BUSY! 💧
Buley Rockhole
Definitely the most photographed swimming pool in all of Australia. It'll cost you a small fee to enter this one 💦
Bondi Icebergs
Some of the clearest water I've ever swum in! You need to book this one and you'll get a one hour snorkelling session. You can pick up any snorkel gear you need from the nearby Allendale East General Store 🤿
Ewens Ponds
What a unique swimming spot! One of the MANY sinkholes around Mount Gambier but this one is my favourite for a quick dip. Some crazy kids jump off the surrounding rocks in the water below 🙌🏼
Little Blue Lake
Naturally heated thermal springs surrounded by palm trees. Only open until noon each day 🌴
Zebedee Springs
The most magical pool complete with waterfall. Such a beautiful walk to reach it too! 🌿
