Some days I don't need another thing to buy—I need five minutes where nobody needs anything from me. These are the little things I do when life feels LOUD, I'm overstimulated, tired, or just plain over it. Most are completely free, realistic, and mad...
Sometimes I just need to get in the car, turn the music up and drive. No errands. No grocery pickup. No being productive. Just a few minutes where I'm responsible for absolutely nothing.
Take a Drive With No Destination
Everybody will survive. 😂 Thirty quiet minutes without notifications, texts, emails or somebody asking "did you see my message?" can feel ridiculously good.
Put Your Phone on Do Not Disturb for 30 Minutes
Not the rushed five-minute mom shower. I'm talking hot water, favorite music, skincare afterward and actually taking your time.
Take an Everything Shower
If you know, you KNOW. Sometimes that little stretch between work and walking into your second shift at home is the only quiet you'll get.
Sit in the Car Before Going Inside
No fitness goals. No step counting. Just walk, breathe and let your brain be quiet for a minute.
Go for a Walk Alone
Instead of another to-do list, decide what can wait. Laundry? Tomorrow. Folding clothes? They'll survive in the basket. Everything isn't an emergency.
Make a "Don't Do It Today" List
Lamps on. Big light OFF. Blanket out. Somehow life immediately becomes about 27% less disrespectful.
Turn Off the Big Light 😂
Put on the songs that make you feel like you again—not Mom, employee, wife, chauffeur or problem solver. Just you.
Listen to a Comfort Playlist
Even ten quiet minutes outside before everybody gets moving can change the whole mood of your morning.
Sit Outside With Your Morning Coffee
Walk around. Browse books. Sit somewhere quiet. Bonus: you can leave without spending $87 because you "just ran into Target for one thing." 😂
Take Yourself on a Library Date
Not the whole house. We're not starting another job. One drawer, your purse or your nightstand. A tiny bit of order can make your brain feel lighter.
Declutter ONE Tiny Space
Watch the show. Lie in bed. Scroll TikTok. Stare at the ceiling if that's what you need. Rest doesn't have to be productive to count.
Have a No-Guilt Lazy Hour
Get it out of your head. It doesn't need to be pretty, positive or inspirational. Sometimes the page needs to hear the truth.
Write Down Everything That's Bothering You
Put on something you've seen 100 times and don't need to concentrate on. Familiar can be comforting when your brain is already carrying too much.
Watch Your Favorite Comfort Show
Yes, the dishes will still be there tomorrow. But so will you—and tomorrow-you will probably handle them better after some sleep.
Go to Bed Early and Leave the Mess
Go sit at the park, library, bookstore, or even somewhere in your car with a pretty view. You don't have to accomplish anything. Sometimes changing your surroundings and having nobody ask you for anything is the reset.
