There are movies that have stuck with me through my life for one reason or another. This is a list of the movies that nobody I have talked to has heard of. I might just need to talk to more people though…
This movie was so much better than I expected going into it. Great music and entirely entertaining!
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Reign of Fire came out while I was working at Blockbuster. One of my favorite takes on dragons.
Reign of Fire (2002)
Fahrenheit 451 mixed with gunplay and the vibes of The Matrix?? Yes.
Equilibrium (2002)
An extremely young Christian Bale singing about selling “papes.”
Newsies (1992)
A prime example of an 80's acid-trip sci-fi fantasy movie.
Krull (1983)
One of two Ewok movies that my Star Wars “fan” friends have never seen.
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure
The second Ewok movie that no one talks about.
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (TV Movie 1985)
A newer movie that isn't about anything in particular, but really captures your heart. I also love the surroundings.
Train Dreams (2025)
I need to watch this again, to be honest. I remember I liked it, but that's about all I remember about Bunraku.
Bunraku (2010)
Produced by The Jim Henson Company, the weirdness is on par with The Dark Crystal or The Neverending Story. The CGI was janky even for the time, but if you like darker fantasy, this is one to see!
Mirrormask (2005)
Sky Captain didn't do too well at the box office or with rentals, from what I remember, but I love the whole look and feel of it.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
With very little dialogue, The Triplets of Belleville is excellent at “show, don't tell.”
The Triplets of Belleville (2003)
Yes, I am a nerd, so a movie about creating a dictionary by researching words is right up my alley!
The Professor and the Madman (2019)
I'm not a huge fan of horror, but this is mostly a dram with just enough horror to keep things interesting.
Marrowbone (2017)
A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite stories (that takes place during my favorite time of year in my favorite time period). This is a fun little story about the man who wrote the story.
The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)
A young Keanu Reeves and a very young Drew Berrymore star in this version, which just happens to be the best version. I will not entertain another opinion.
