Food
Great food and vibe. More of a local establishment with good prices and excellent beer selection.
Third Place Pizzeria
My favorite place to get a creamie in town!! Great selection and the people here are so friendly.
Lakeside Country Store
The best coffee in town and their food is amazing too!! Everything is sourced locally and ultra fresh
The Farmstand Cafe & Market
This is the best place to buy beer and liquor in town! But it’s also my favorite place to get deli sandwich sandwiches! Everything is very fresh and they have some great specialty sandwiches.
Beverage King Market & Deli - Vermont Liquor Store, Bottle Return
About 10 minutes from Castleton, this place is my absolute favorite for breakfast! You truly can’t beat the prices and it’s delicious!
Mary's Cafe
My favorite coffee in Rutland county! If you want to leave Castleton and take the 15 minute drive to Rutland, this is where I would go.
Last Cup Cafe
Hands down the best pizza in the area! Authentically Greek owned.
Poultney House of Pizza
More of an upscale option without the price gouging that comes from eating directly on the lake. Their prime rib is absolutely delicious and their lemon chicken is also one of my favorites.
Blue Cat Bistro
Things to do
If you’re visiting during the summer you have to see the rodeo on Saturday nights. Castleton is home to the largest ranch in the east and they host an awesome experience! Especially if you’ve never been to a rodeo.
Pond Hill Ranch
If you’re looking to rent a boat to explore Lake Bomoseen, Woodards would be the place to do so! Once you’re out on the lake, we like to head to the sandbar to hang out with friends in a nice shallow spot.
Woodard Marine Boat Rentals
Killington is about a 20 minute drive from Lake magazine and if you’re looking to do some hiking, this is where I would go!
Deer Leap Trail
If I were to take a little day trip, it would be to go up to Middlebury, which is about 30 minutes from Lake bombazine. The drive is beautiful overlooking the green mountains! Once you get to Middleberry, there are tons of cute little shops, but one ...
America's Original Hard Cider | Woodchuck Hard Cider
If you want to go kayaking or paddle boarding, I would skip Bomoseen and make the trip to Poultney to lake St Catherine. It’s a much quieter lake and perfect for this kind of thing!
Lake Saint Catherine
Looking to do some mountain biking but not really wanting to go to Killington? These trials are beautiful maintained and there are different levels for all skill levels!
Slate Valley Trails
If you’re here in the summer, you have to check out the farmers market in Rutland! Local vendors, fresh food, and lots of crafts.
