Here is what I have packed for the perfect hospital bag and not overpacking!
Any kind of “weekend” bag will be perfect, not allowing you to over pack is key. Don’t be overwhelmed while in the hospital.
Weekend Bags & Overnight Travel Bags
Keep your clothes and toiletries separate. Also helps to compact things need to fit in your bag.
Packing Cubes
Don’t go fancy with your toiletries. Remember it’s just to get you through the few days. But definitely keep them separate so things stay clean.
Tip: if you can’t get a bag use plastic wrap under the lid and back on so you don’t have spills.
Travel Toiletry Bottles and Bag
I don’t like to bring home a toothbrush after traveling. Grab a cheap toothbrush do you can toss it after the trip.
Travel Size Toothbrush
If you have travel size that’s great, if not you’re not going on a flight so pack the full size.
Toothpaste
You may not even want to wear a bra while in the hospital, but pack one to wear on your way home!
Nursing bras for comfort & support
Pack something you’ll be comfortable in and easy to undo for quick breastfeeding.
Labor & Delivery Gowns
Non-slip is preferred in hospitals. I personally love a good fuzzy sock. Keep your toes warm and hospital happy with non-slip socks.
Fuzzy Non Slip Socks
Protein snacks that don’t require a fridge will be the best at night time when the cafeteria is closed.
Slim Jim
This is one of the most important things in my bag. The comfort of home while being in a hospital is something you want while spending time with your newborn.
Blankets and Throws | Soft, Cozy Blankets
Trying to stay hydrated while learning a new tiny human will be hard. Don’t let your dried and scrubby lips be the thing that touches your newborns soft skin. Wear your chapstick girl!
Aquaphor Lip Repair Stick, 0.17 oz, 2 pack
Your first day in the hospital you may not want to be completely dressed due to your learning how to breastfeed. A soft/thin robe will be perfect to keep you covered and easy access to your chest for whenever baby decides he/she is hungry.
Organic Cotton Robes
Even though you’ll be sitting in a bed, your going to be sweating still.
Dove Deodorant Travel Size
Something cozy for your going home outfit.
Blue Knit Set
Keep the in and out noise down by having brown noise playing through the night. Let the baby sleep as much as you can!
