Mostly dystopian books from middle school that are good enough for rereads
I’ve recently read these (except Four) after watching the movie adaptations countless times and there’s so much more backstory found. Everything makes sense now. This series is a staple for starting off in the dystopian world.
Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
I never got around to reading these until recently and I definitely missed out. I love to read books and then rewatch or watch the movies to compare and everything makes so much more sense. Another dystopian staple series.
The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins
I believe this was the first dystopian series that really made this my favorite genre to read. I love these books and will always highly recommend them! Each book brings a new set of characters and the trials they endure before coming together. Truly...
The Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer
This is one of many books that was a reading requirement when I was in grade school that I think is still a relevant read and reread.
To Kill a Mockingbird: Lee, Harper: 9780446310789
I enjoyed reading the first book. It was different than any other books I had read but still fascinating. I haven’t read the other two but I plan to.
The Gilded Ones Series
This series is so good! And there’s new books coming out so you can keep reading it if you like interconnected books.
The Inheritance Games Series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
An enjoyable and easy read!
Island of the Blue Dolphins
I’ve read the first two books so far and I am hooked. The tension between the characters fits the storyline and the plot will keep you guessing. I’d say it’s a must read if you enjoy dystopian books
Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard
Romance
Aren’t we all just hopeless romantics at heart?
This was the first romance book I was influenced to read and it did not disappoint. I have both of these cover versions and typically I’m not a fan of having two of the same book but the exclusive one is just so gorgeous.
Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
I’m not quite sure if this is considered romance but it is a love story. I haven’t read the book yet or watched the movie with Anne Hathaway, although I plan to, but the show absolutely wrecked me so I bet it’s a good read. Be prepared to cry.
One Day by David Nicholls
If you liked the show but felt like details were missing then you should definitely read this book. Shows and movies just don’t give the full story.
Queen Charlotte - Julia Quinn | Author of Historical Romance Novels
Oh hot hell…Cowboys in any form are just different but Elsie Silver knows how to write them. I think this has to be my favorite series of hers and possibly of all the romance books I’ve read. A must read!
Chestnut Springs Series by Elsie Silver
First off the cover is just beautiful and it truly reflects the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it!
Picking Daisies on Sundays by Liana Cincotti
I guarantee this book is a blushing while kicking your feet in the air kind of romance. I’ll be reading it soon!
Don't Be In Love by Liana Cincotti
I’m not sure why I’ve never thought to read this I am a lover of the movie. Nicholas Sparks is an excellent author. And if you don’t want to read the book itself plenty of his have been adapted to movies.
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
I have a feeling this book is going to make you cry but the details are always important from the book, especially if you watched the movie first.
The Choice - Nicholas Sparks
Ana Huang has several series but this one started it all. I’ve read the twisted series as well as the first five of the kings of sin and I wish I would’ve read these one’s first because of how her stories connect to the next book. So good!
If Love Series by Ana Huang
These books are definitely something! You’ll just have to read them yourself.
Twisted Series by Ana Huang
I can’t get enough of this series! Each one has a different trope but such a diverse range of characters. Can’t wait for the last two!
Kings of Sin Series by Ana Huang
Read. The. Book. While I enjoy watching the movie (although it’s cringe) the book just gives so much more detail and explains everything in a way the screen can’t.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Mystery | Thriller | Horror
If you need a good thrill every once in awhile
My flabbers were gasted when I finished this book. I was not expecting the twist it took. I contemplated things after. I would recommend it so others will know the feeling.
You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose
The Point Horror collection is beyond great! This book is short and thrilling but a satisfying read.
Sister Dearest by D.E. Athkins
This would traumatize high schoolers if it actually happened but since it’s a book then it’s all good. Truly keeps you guessing until the end!
The Train by Diane Hoh
A shocking end to a seemingly innocent girls story.
Where the Crawdads Sing: Reese's Book Club
I couldn’t put this down. It’s so fun to try and guess the outcome as you’re reading this book!
The Window by Carol Ellis
Historical Fiction
A must read for higher grade or middle schoolers. A great way to shed light on history.
