Ren Faire Corset
Granny Square Bag
Granny Square Kindle Case
Ren Faire Corset
Used this secondary to PoF5 to figure out where to separate panels, put boning channels etc. Lots of good pictures and general information
CORSETS AND CRINOLINES by Norah Waugh (z-lib.org).pdf
This is my go-to for staymaking research. It has lots of good visuals of extant samples, and also breaks down the patterns if you’d like to make them yourself. The patterns themselves aren’t beginner friendly but they are a good resource
Publications
Probably the most helpful video I watched. I didn’t follow the flat lining process, but it is good information to have for future projects
Sewing Renaissance CottageGoth Stays | Making Stays from a Free Corset Pattern
The corset pattern generator. Make sure you’re careful with your measurements and follow the instructions. I recommend drafting the pattern on wrapping paper that has the 1” grid on the back, it just makes things a little easier
Custom Corset Pattern Generator
Another really helpful video. I put the lacing in the front and not the back, but I found it really helpful to see someone with a similar body type to you do the same kind of project.
Ren Faire Fantasy Corset Tutorial - Free Custom Pattern ANY Size!
Different pattern, same kind of process. Minji has a lot of really good corset videos and I highly recommend her channel in general
Trying a Free Renaissance Corset Pattern | Tapestry Inspired Stays
This is the video I referenced when putting the bag together. I did have to get a little creative as the sides of the moon squares were a stitch or two short of the sun squares, but it worked out just fine in the end. I like that this method leaves y...
Flower Granny Square Tote Bag Tutorial
The yarn I used to make the bag. I used the shades Kobuk Valley (purple), Canyonlands (yellow), and Master (white). Cotton stretches less and is a better choice for bags, but this is what I had on hand at the time 🤷🏻♀️
Heartland® Yarn
This is the hook I used, but you can switch it up depending on the gauge you prefer
Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hook-Size H8/5mm -1008H
I used a piece of scrap material for the lining of my bag and can’t link directly to it, but this would be a super cute option!
Cotton Fabric- Space Print
I used regular old cotton thread to hand-stitch the lining into the bag, but honestly, whatever you have lying around is probably fine
Coats Cotton all-purpose cotton thread
The lining of the bag is, unfortunately, hand-stitched in place. I also sewed the sides of the lining together using a running backstitch, but that’s only because I was sick and didn’t want to haul out the sewing machine. You could 100% put the linin...
Loops & Threads™ Craft Needles
This video has a pretty good explanation for how to make the lining for this shape of bag. You don’t have to add a lining, but I would recommend it to help the bag keep its shape
How to Line a Crochet Bag
This is a good tutorial for how you actually sew the lining into the bag by hand. I find that this looks nicer than doing it with a sewing machine, but it’s a personal preference thing
How to Hand-Sew a Fabric Liner Into a Crochet Bag, No Sewing Machine Required!
The tutorial I used for making the sun squares for the bag
☀️ SUN GRANNY SQUARE PATTERN ☀️ | step-by-step crochet tutorial
Granny Square Kindle Case
The tutorial I used to make the ghost appliqué. She has some other great ones if you want to do something different
Crochet Ghost Applique Tutorial
This is the size of crochet hook I used for this project, you could go up or down a size if you want the weave to be looser or tighter, respectively
Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hook-Size H8/5mm -1008H
Basic granny square instructions. I made it big enough that I could turn it into an envelope, then slip stitched the sides and bottom together. I added an extra slip stitch to the top corner for a button hole and a button to keep it closed on the bot...
How to Crochet a Granny Square for Beginners *updated tutorial*
The yarn I used for the kindle case. I used the colours Great Smoky Mountains (grey), Black Canyon (black), and Master (white)
Heartland® Yarn
I had a few of these laying around, so they’re what I used as a closure for the kindle case
