Fantasy novel with an older heroine. Closed-door romance scenes. Also, the “author” of the heroine's story also has a plot line. This was delightful and I LOVED it.
Just Stab Me Now- Jill Bearup
Th first book in the Practical Magic series (yes, it’s a whole series!). The movie takes quite a few artistic liberties so the two are pretty different, but the book is very charming in its own right.
Practical Magic- Alice Hoffman
The second book in the Practical Magic series, covering the story of Jet, Franny, and their little brother Vincent. I liked this one even better than Practical Magic
The Rules Of Magic- Alice Hoffman
Third book in the Practical Magic series (technically the prequel to the prequel). This one covers the story of the infamous Owens ancestor Maria, and the origins of the Owens Family Curse
Magic Lessons- Alice Hoffman
First book in the Witcher series proper. I really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend reading The Last Wish and Season of Storms first for a little more context but it’s not 100% necessary.
Blood Of Elves- Andrzej Sapkowski
One of my favourite dragon books. I adore Violet and Tairn’s dynamic so much, and Andarna is adorable as hell. It also gets all the bonus points for chronic illness representation
Fourth Wing
Second book in The Empyrean series. Grumpy teenaged Andarna has my heart
Iron Flame- Rebecca Yarros
Third book in The Empyrean series. I LOVED Sawyer’s whole arc and how it illustrated his struggle with accepting accommodations, it was really cathartic to read for my little RA-riddled self
Onyx Storm- Rebecca Yarros
The second volume of short stories, I recommend reading this one before Blood of Elves as it sets up the series proper. I also highly recommend the audiobook version so you can hear Peter Kenney speak mermaid as Geralt, it is 1000% worth your time lo...
Sword Of Destiny- Andrzej Sapkowski
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this series. This first one is a little bit more dry than the rest of the series but it’s still so worth it to get to the rest of the series
A Natural History Of Dragons- Marie Brennan
Book two of the Lady Trent Memoirs, covering her adventures in the “Green Hell”
The Tropic Of Serpents- Marie Brennan
The third volume of the Lady Trent Memoirs, covering the attempt of Lady Trent and co. to circumnavigate the globe studying every dragon species they can
Voyage Of The Basilisk- Marie Brennan
The fourth volume of the Lady Trent Memoirs, in which Lady Trent and Thomas Wilker travel to Akhia to attempt to start a dragon breeding program
In The Labyrinth Of Drakes- Marie Brennan
The final volume of the Lady Trent Memoirs. Honestly, the series veers a little off into left field here, but it’s still pretty good and I still 100% recommend it
Within The Sanctuary Of Wings- Marie Brennan
I didn’t love it as much as I loved the short stories, or the rest of the series, but I did really enjoy this one
Time Of Contempt- Andrzej Sapkowski
Only Dakota could make me simp for a gnome. This book is so adorable, and I seriously can't recommend it enough. Give it a shot
