These are the various zoos that I have been to in my travels in the United States. Please forgive me. I know that for some people it is a little controversial but I really enjoy seeing the animals that I would not otherwise encounter. Is it selfish? ... I try to visit the zoos and aquariums wherever I go.
Closest to home. Wonderful little zoo. Occassionally has beautiful exhibits like the botanical flamingos they had throughout the park one year.
Virginia Zoo
I haven't been since 1993 but I really hope to bring my kids there one day. It was a really great experience and I can't wait to go back.
Bronx Zoo
The National Zoo in Washington DC is a treasure! Located in the heart of Rock Creek Park, a worthwhile trip in itself, the National zoo a must see if you go to the Nation's capitol. Wear your sneakers! It's a hike.
Smithsonian National Zoological Park
When I go to the zoo, I want to see elephants! And the San Diego zoo has them! Plan to be there all day to take it all in. It is totally worth it! Did I tell you they have camels?

I went to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington in January. We got really lucky because out of the whole week we were there the zoo trip landed on a day that had a little sunshine! What a wonderful zoo.
