I remember being maybe 12 years old going to my local thrift store and buying books from the 10/$1 sale to resell online and making BUCK on them. Sourcing: Online / Non-Locally

Unless you live in a big city, you may not always have enough items available to source where you live. This is when shipping comes in to play. You can purchase items from anywhere and have it shipped to your home.

Mercari is great for sourcing: they offer coupons, boast a HUGE marketplace full of people and items, and for the most part whatever you buy is shipped right to your door (if not ubered).

Marketplace is great for sourcing both locally and non-locally. Online deals are more plentiful but can go fast depending on the niche.

eBay is great for sourcing. They have a huge market of sellers who post pretty much anything. Make use of the alerts and watch features. Auctions are your friend; keep an eye on ones that end late at night for a good deal.

Shop Goodwill is Goodwill's online auction site. Usually overpriced and picked over, and what isn't has exorbitant shipping rates to make up for it. Still, there may be the occassional gem there.

Freecycle is a lovely community of neighbors sharing and gifting items they no longer need. Keep an eye on it for freebies you could resell. I once picked up a free mid century modern credenza 2 hours away and sold it for $1000.

Mercari is one of my personal favorite online sales marketplaces. Mercari offers local and shippnig sales/purchases and also gives out coupons for a % off an item of your choice often.

Selling with marketplace is quick and easy for both the online and local markets. Be careful with the shipping market though: if you get too many late or canceled orders you can and will be banned from shipping with facebook.

eBay is great for selling online. It has a huge audience of both buyers and sellers that pretty much guarantees quick sales. High fees but worth it for the most part. I don't do free returns but do allow returns with a restocking fee.
