Each book altered my life differently. + with my takeaways :)
Three words: Situationships. Lack of Communication. Self-issues.
They kept on finding their way back, but they still weren't meant for eachother. Their love was about supporting each other's growth, even if it meant growing apart. Even if you let people disrespect you and your boundaries, it won't make them love y...
Fav Quote: “She felt she would do anything to make him like her, to make him say out loud that he liked her.”
Normal People: A Novel - Sally Rooney
This book found me at the perfect moment. We carry the love we keep reaching for, the love also exists in friendships, growth, healing, and in the way we choose ourselves every day.
This book felt like a big sister teaching you how to navigate love in your twenties 🫂
We forget that we're already abundant in love, we just tend to think love is only meant to be “romantic.”
Fav Quote: “More often than not, the love someone gives you will be a reflection of the love you give yourself. If you can't treat yourself with kindness, care, and patience, chances are someone else won't either.”
Everything I Know About Love: A Memoir
This book changed the way I think. Through Morrie's life lessons, each chapter teaches a different truth about love, life, and how to appreciate difficult situations from new prespectives.
For Morrie, dying slowly was a ‘lucky’ thing. “When you know how to die, you know how to live”
Acceot what you can and can't control. Accepting that things didn't work out the way we wanted allows us to learn and forgive. Peace comes from acceptance.
Fav Quote: “Not letting ourselves be loved because we're too afraid of giving ourselves to someone we might lose.”
Tuesdays with Morrie: Life's Greatest Lesson
The darkness in one's story, the miserable childhood that affected their perspective on life & love. that other people's love doesn't heal our personal wounds. that boundaries matter; relationships can be messy & consuming.
Love alone cannot suffice for the loneliness a person feels. rushing things can only make us crash and burn faster in the end.
The writing style made my brain “???” it was so edgy & cliche 😭
Fav Quote: “Because it shows total unwillingness to change, that is not just who you are, Frank it's who you've become, who you choose to be. you just refuse to acknowledge the choice."
Cleopatra and Frankenstein: Coco Mellors
Three words: Love. Grief. Family dynamics.
One day spent with someone you love can change everything. that a mother's love is the most purest love you'll ever know.
You can go your whole life living, and none of it will outweigh the regrets of the things you wished you had done. you cannot go back.
Helped me to cope healthily with grief :)
Fav Quote: “When you’re rotten about yourself, you become rotten to everyone else, even those you love.”
For One More Day: Albom, Mitch
Three words: First love. Friendship. Grief.
This book showed how every person navigates grief differently. The complex and ugly process of healing and finding yourself again. We all have unique relationships with different people. how we perceive the same people differently.
We all have unique relationships with different people. How we perceive the same people differently.
Just because it's common, doesn't mean it's not remarkable. Grief comes in waves.
Fav Quote: “You may not feel it yet, but at some point, it will hit you. And then you'll be back to normal, talking to someone, just like we are now, and it will hit you all over again."
Loved One: A Novel - Muharrar, Aisha
Three words: Love. Forgiveness. Sacrifice.
This book showed how our lives are all connected. Every action has an impact, and scenery without solace is meaningless.
Love is an endless act of forgiveness. You have peace when you make it yourself.
Fav Quote: “Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from the inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.”
The Five People You Meet in Heaven: Albom, Mitch
This book is a collection of 18 short stories about love. the stories made me THINK because of the way it was written, super off beat and deep, yet hilarious at the same time. real love embraces flaws, vulnerability is vital for deep connections, and...
It’s not what we do that makes us who we are It’s what we don't do that defines us.
I used way too MUCH for this one 😭
Fav Quote: “That life is terrifying and overwhelming and it can happen at any moment. And when you’re confronted with life you can either be cowardly or you can be brave, but either way you’re going to live. So you might as well be brave”
