I live on the Atherton Tablelands. It is a popular tourist destination, and as a result, has a range of wonderful cafes and restaurants for locals and tourists alike. These are some of the ones I frequent regularly and recommend to visitors.
Map
A small restaurant with delicious food. Their gnocchi is the best I've ever tasted!
Our Place Restaurant Yungaburra
You can't come to the tablelands without trying the cheese and chocolate from Gallo's. It is delicious!
Gallo Dairyland
A great breakfast and lunch spot. Great atmosphere and very accommodating
Lenny St.
Great pub meals. Kids eat free on Mondays and a great indoor playground to keep the kids entertained.
The Carrington Hotel
Great coffee. Their dairy free coco whip is amazing. And there is a wonderful array of homewares to browse while waiting for your meal.
Malanda Collective
Buy the best apple turnovers on the tablelands, then go to the park nearby with the kids or to the lookout to watch the windmills.
Ravenshoe Highland Bakery
The largest timber constructed building in Queensland. Good old fashioned pub atmosphere.
Malanda Hotel Motel
Grab a coffee and a muffin, browse the homewares and art gallery, then head to Lake Eacham down the road for a picnic and swim in a gorgeous crater lake.
Lake Eacham Tourist Park
I love their pancakes. They do great breakfast and lunch. Might need to book as they are very popular. Their delicatessen also has a wonderful array of local foods to take away.
The Gillies Cafe & Bar - Facebook
Beautifully done up art deco pub. Thursday night is cheap oyster night and highly recommended.
Barron Valley Hotel
A little out of the way, but THE place to go on the tablelands for Devonshire tea. Pair it with a look at the waterfalls or a bushwalk.
Mungalli Creek Dairy Cafe
Their coffee van fuels my coffee addiction. The cafe is filled with gorgeous antique furniture and great meals. Their creation jars are an essential experience.
Petals and Pinecones (P&P)
I love Thai food. Their pad Thai is amazing and great service.
