Super Heavy Gesso

Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Pans and Sets
A few years ago I discovered black gesso. I love the chalky matte finish. It’s great to prep a canvas or paper. Works well with white Gelli pens or Posca markers. Last year, I used to prep wooden ornaments for painting.
Golden Black Gesso
IMO, this is all you need for wood panel. Give it 2-3 good coats of gesso (dry well in between) and you are ready to go. Don’t skimp on the gesso or the paint will continue to absorb into the wood.
