Road Trips and Traveling with Cats
We love to travel as a family, and the cats always come along! Here are some of our favorite items to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe whether traveling by car, train, or air!
Travel and Safety
Must haves for a safe trip with you little buddies!
A great, safe carrier for road trips that can fit a small litter box, which is a must for any longer trips with a CKD cat (they pee A LOT). It secures in the back seat by strapping to the seatbelt.
This is the best cat carrier. I have had mine for over 10 years. We mostly use it for vet visits, but we've also flown with it several times.
The best harnesses we've found for our big old boy and our petite girl.
Make sure you have a good leash to attach to the harness in case of an emergency!
Personalize a collar with you pet's name and your phone number - just in case!
These are great to lay down in the car carrier so the cats can relieve themselves while on the trip. Also soaks up any spilled water from the bowl so it doesn't leak on your car seats. Easy to swap out!
Food
Must haves for a happy belly while on the road.
I love this bowl to keep Ivy and Winston's food separate and also have a compartment to add water
These are my favorite to make sure dry food stays fresh and keeps bugs out when we travel
These are Winston's favorite and a good pick-me-up when we've been traveling for a few hours.
Litter
Litter seems like it would be a more complicated part of traveling, but I promise it's not! These solutions have worked great for our family.
Great non-disposable litter box for cats. Super convenient and easy to clean!
If you prefer a disposable litter box, this one is great! I recommend going for the larger size. Once you're done, you can just toss it - too easy!

Other Necessities
Must haves for a comfortable trip.
If your cat is old or messy (Winston is both), they may enjoy a little wipe down mid trip. Winston loves these!
Always have then on hand (plus some trash bags - I just bring pastic shopping bags) while you travel in case there are any unexpected messes.
Toys on every trip are a must have! Helps a lot with stress.
We actually take a set of stairs with us when we travel so Winston doesn't have any trouble getting on and off the bed. It comes apart so we can squeeze the pieces into open spots in the car.
